Mental Health First Aid: Youth Champion Course

This event will take place between 9:00am and 5:00pm on 28/01/2022

Course delivered by the Saffron Teaching School Hub

The goal of this one-day course is to raise awareness of mental health issues and give you the skills, confidence and knowledge to support a young person who may be suffering or in a crisis.

What does the course offer?

  • An understanding of common mental health issues and how they affect young people.
  • The ability to spot signs of mental ill health in young people and guide them to a place of support.
  • Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness.
  • Skills to support wellbeing.

Course Outline

Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. Everyone who completes the course receives:

  • A certificate f attendance to say you are a ‘Youth MHFA Champion’.
  • A Youth MHFA manual to refer to whenever you need it.

Who presents the course?

Jo Morton-Brown is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.  Working as an Emotional Health Practitioner, Jo is a passionate and committed advocate for the improvement of mental health. Combining her academic knowledge with first-hand experience, she can offer fellow professionals working with children and their families the chance to gain targeted mental health and emotional wellbeing training.

This course will be delivered online.
