</item><item>	<title><![CDATA[ New Music Curriculum Set to Boost Equality – Essex Music Service Ready to Support Schools ]]></title>
	<link>https://www.saffronteachingschoolhub.net/news/?pid=57&amp;nid=1&amp;storyid=231</link>	<description><![CDATA[<p>The national <u><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/curriculum-and-assessment-review">Curriculum and Assessment Review</a></u> has highlighted significant inequalities in access to music education. Music currently shows the widest disadvantage attainment gap of any GCSE subject. In 2024/25, 61% of the most disadvantaged schools entered no pupils for GCSE Music, compared with just 10% of the least disadvantaged. A quarter of disadvantaged schools did not offer any music qualification at all. These findings underline a pressing need to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to engage meaningfully with music.</p>

One of the&nbsp;key ways Saffron Appropriate Body ensures&nbsp;that all ECTs receive their statutory induction entitlement&nbsp;is through our &lsquo;quality assurance visits&rsquo; - but what does this look like in practice?&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the last fortnight, we are also delighted to have welcomed our Year 2 ECTs and mentors back to their training, as they continue their programme of development. Designed to support and empower educators at the start of their careers, the programme blends evidence-based learning with practical, in-person events hosted at key locations throughout the region.</p>

</item><item>	<title><![CDATA[ ECT Induction and the Early Career Teacher Entitlement ]]></title>
	<link>https://www.saffronteachingschoolhub.net/news/?pid=5&amp;nid=14&amp;storyid=181</link>	<description><![CDATA[<p>ECT Induction is a statutory two-year support and training programme for newly qualified teachers in England. It ensures early career teachers (ECTs) receive structured development, mentoring, and assessment during their first two years in the profession.&nbsp;</p>

<p>From September 2025, the <u><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-career-teacher-entitlement">Early Career Teacher Entitlement</a></u>&nbsp;(ECTE) replaces the previous Early Career Framework&nbsp;(ECF)-based induction. ECT training programmes will be based on the <u><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/initial-teacher-training-and-early-career-framework">ITTECF</a></u> - an updated framework based on a combination of initial teacher training (ITT), core content framework (CCF) and the ECF.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The ECTE is designed to better integrate the training and development of new teachers with the latest educational research and classroom needs.&nbsp;The updated programme ensures that there is an increased focus on areas such as SEND, oracy, adaptive teaching and literacy, with more exemplification included for different phases, settings and subjects. In addition, mentors will have access to diagnostic tools to tailor content for their ECTs.</p>

<p>For mentors, from September 2025 there will be a one-year development programme designed for supporting and developing ECTs&#39; practice.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The programme allows teachers, leaders and support staff working in state schools to access fully-funded group coaching and workshop support from the start of their parental leave all the way up to when their youngest child is 5 years old.</p>

<p style="margin-left:0cm; margin-right:0cm">Hosted by Saffron Walden County High School, and expertly facilitated by Phil Heath, Emma Carvalho and Katie Pieri, the conference explored critical aspects of Leadership and SEND:</p>

This online event&nbsp;is designed specifically for trainee teachers who will transition into early career teachers (ECTs) in September 2025.</p>

	<link>https://www.saffronteachingschoolhub.net/news/?pid=5&amp;nid=14&amp;storyid=168</link>	<description><![CDATA[<p>March brings to a close the Spring Conference offer for ECTs and their mentors on the Saffron <u><a href="/earlycareerprogramme">Early Career Programme</a></u>. This term has had a focus on Modules 3 &amp; 4, which has developed our delegates&#39; knowledge of examples, questioning and assessment. While our ECT2s continue to develop this through a subject or phase specific lens, our ECT1s have been introduced to key concepts and strategies to embed this within their classroom practice. Mentors developed their understanding of the importance of deliberate practice, alongside a focus on supporting the wellbeing of their ECT.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

As such, the SHT has worked in schools across the Saffron Teaching School Hub&nbsp;region, supporting them in harnessing the impact that engagement with music and the arts can bring &ndash; not only for its tangible musical outcomes, but also through using music to build confidence and support in areas including school engagement, wider employability skills and health and wellbeing.</p>
