Introducing the Essex Research School

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as the new Essex Research School at Lyons Hall Primary School. We are looking forward to developing this role in partnership with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) to support schools in our area to use evidence to improve teaching practice.

Literacy session - Wednesday 24 January 3:30-4:30pm

As part of our Literacy work this term, we are providing a twilight session with Chris Williams on developing pupils’ speaking, listening and writing skills using his ‘Chatta’ approach.

This training will take place from 3:30-4:30 on Wednesday 24 January 2024.

This training would be ideal for Literacy leads and SENCos and anyone working with reluctant writers or those children that find writing challenging.

Our free online workshop with Chris Williams will consider:

  • How language provides the foundation of thinking and learning and should be prioritised.
  • The cognitive science approaches which underpin the Chatta approach.
  • How to use modelling to extend children’s language and thinking during interactions.
  • How to support pupils to effectively articulate their ideas verbally before writing.

To sign up for this workshop, click here.

We look forward to working with you in the future.
