Mentor Conference - 6 February 2024

Teaching School Hubs in the Eastern Region are running a free online conference for ITT mentors on Tuesday 6 February from 4:00-5:30pm.

The Eastern Region Teaching School Hubs and East of England Regional Network for ITT would like to invite all existing and aspiring ITT mentors to a choice of free online CPD conferences on Tuesday 6 February.

Mentoring is an extremely rewarding opportunity for teachers, enhancing their own professional development whilst sharing their expertise with someone at the start of their teaching career. Whilst it is rewarding, it can also be challenging, so we have designed two engaging evidence-based sessions to help support your understanding of the role and engage in some of the latest research about mentoring.

Session 1: The Model of the Mind - for new mentors

This session is aimed at those who are new to mentoring and will explore themes such as:

  • How teachers use cognitive science to design instruction
  • Myths about learning
  • A model of the mind

Session 2: Modelling - for existing mentors

This session is for those who are experienced mentors or attended our previous mentor conference in March 2023. We will explore the following themes:

  • The what and why of modelling
  • Think aloud and dual coding
  • The impact of modelling
