Saffron Alliance CPD Courses

Saffron Alliance is based at Saffron Walden County High School and works in partnership with Essex schools to provide excellent CPD.  Across the Saffron Alliance network they collaborate with both primary and secondary schools to provide high quality professional development for teachers and leaders, with the aim of maximising the impact of our work, so that all children achieve their potential.

Adult Mindfulness Course - Summer Term 2022

Course Outline

This course offers a fresh take on the traditional eight-week MBSR/CT curriculum and approach and aims to make mindfulness as accessible and effective as possible for adults in school settings. Teaching mindfulness to staff promotes health and well-being among the wider staff body as well as starting more staff members on their journey towards eligibility to train to teach mindfulness to students. The course will run for 8 weeks and each session is 90 minutes long.

Online Mental Health First Aid: Youth Champion Course — January 2022

This event will take place between 9:00am and 5:00pm on 28/01/2022

Course delivered by the Saffron Teaching School Hub and Jo Morton-Brown

The goal of this one-day online course is to raise awareness of mental health issues and give you the skills, confidence and knowledge to support a young person who may be suffering or in a crisis.

What does the course offer?

  • An understanding of common mental health issues and how they affect young people.
  • The ability to spot signs of mental ill health in young people and guide them to a place of support.
  • Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness.
  • Skills to support wellbeing.

Course Outline

Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. Everyone who completes the course receives:

  • A certificate f attendance to say you are a ‘Youth MHFA Champion’.
  • A Youth MHFA manual to refer to whenever you need it.

Who presents the course?

Jo Morton-Brown is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.  Working as an Emotional Health Practitioner, Jo is a passionate and committed advocate for the improvement of mental health. Combining her academic knowledge with first-hand experience, she can offer fellow professionals working with children and their families the chance to gain targeted mental health and emotional wellbeing training.
