Subject Forums 2021-22
Developing strong subject expertise in teachers is one of the key factors in ensuring pupils’ success. Five Teaching School Hubs across the Eastern Region (Alpha, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, Chafford Hundred, Saffron and Unity) have joined together to launch a pilot programme of Subject Forums to both primary and secondary colleagues at all stages of their career.
- The Subject Forums are for all staff and coincide with the release of Block 4 of the Early Career Framework which is focused on building good subject knowledge and curriculum. We hope that the subject forums will provide a launchpad for our new teachers to further develop their practice as well as connecting them to a wider community.
- The forums will run two 45-minute sessions for each subject (for the subjects listed below) during the spring and summer terms. These remote sessions are designed to provide teachers with subject specific insights into evidence informed practice as a starting point to further reflection, professional learning and development of greater expertise.
- All the forums are led by subject experts drawn from local Curriculum Hubs, subject association networks, ITT providers and practitioner expertise from across our region. The National Association of School-Based Teacher Trainers (NASBTT) and the Curriculum Hubs are working together with us to ensure the Subject Forums complement their work.
For primary schools the Subject Forums are offered at £50 per school. For this cost any member of staff can access the following subjects:
