West Essex SCITT
At West Essex SCITT, the Epping Forest Schools Partnership Trust (EFSPT) and across our partnership schools, we believe that teaching is an exciting, challenging and rewarding profession. Our vision is to offer the highest standard of education for all, both in our local community and the wider area.
West Essex SCITT is located in Buckhurst Hill; our partnership primary schools are mainly within the Epping Forest or West Essex area and many are accessible by Central Line Tube or bus routes.
We pride ourselves on having a proven track record in training and professional development and were graded ‘Outstanding’ in our last Ofsted. Trainees consistently evaluate our pastoral care and support as a particular strength of the programme. Our teachers are excellent practitioners and are eager to share their skills, knowledge and vision with the next generation of teachers.
We offer salaried and fee funded School Direct Primary placements to graduates, or those who are looking for a change of career. This path into teaching is a great way to gain the qualifications and practical skills you need to become a teacher. It enables those who have just finished a degree, or have been working in a career for many years, to combine teacher training with actually doing and learning on the job.
This course will be based in one school for the majority of the year with a short second placement in a contrast school setting. Part of the course is theory based and there will be formal training days held mainly at one of our partner schools, Alderton Junior School, in Loughton. The course is accredited by West Essex SCITT and successful trainees will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status.
