Following the success of English Hub primary school support, the DfE has expanded the programme to secondary schools. This new phase focuses on supporting students in KS3 who are working below the national reading standard, ensuring they quickly gain the literacy skills needed to thrive in secondary education.
From September 2026, secondary schools will be able to access additional support through the expansion of the English Hubs programme. This initiative forms part of the Department for Education's ongoing commitment to improving outcomes for pupils who struggle with reading.
Join the New Vision English Hub at one of their online briefings in May to find out more about their secondary support offer - sign up for a briefing at https://bit.ly/4no8v7c or via the link in our bio.

We've had a fantastic week of Year 1 ECT seminars, with a clear focus on adaptive teaching, curriculum sequencing and the development of reading.
Each session was carefully designed to support ECTs in strengthening their understanding of how thoughtful curriculum planning and responsive teaching can positively impact pupils' outcomes.
It was particularly encouraging to see such high levels of engagement from our ECTs across the week. They approached the sessions with openness and professionalism, taking time to reflect on their own classroom practice, ask purposeful questions and contribute to collaborative professional dialogue with colleagues.
The seminars provided valuable opportunities to deepen pedagogical understanding, build confidence and strengthen consistency across settings. A thoroughly rewarding and impactful week of professional learning!
