Starting Reception website
The Starting Reception website has been developed by a coalition of early years organisations, and is promoted by the Department for Education. It aims to support parents and educators with guidance and resources to help their children develop the essential skills needed for starting primary school.
At the heart of the site is the Starting Reception definition which sets out the personal, social, emotional and physical skills that most children will develop by the time they start school. The definition has been created to support parents, caregivers, and early years professionals.
The site also provides a communication toolkit with resources in the form of leaflets, booklets and posters that can be personalised by settings with their own logo or details. All content, including royalty-free images and social media assets, is free for use on websites, social media channels, publications, newsletters etc. There is also an extensive Useful links section.
The site will continue to grow as new resources are added - the latest addition being a handy and accessible Potty Training Guide.
