Saffron Early Career Programme – Spring Term update

March brings to a close the Spring Conference offer for ECTs and their mentors on the Saffron Early Career Programme. This term has had a focus on Modules 3 & 4, which has developed our delegates' knowledge of examples, questioning and assessment. While our ECT2s continue to develop this through a subject or phase specific lens, our ECT1s have been introduced to key concepts and strategies to embed this within their classroom practice. Mentors developed their understanding of the importance of deliberate practice, alongside a focus on supporting the wellbeing of their ECT.

Spring Term conference feedback

We have really valued the feedback that we have received from ECTs and mentors about the quality of the conferences, with one of the highest-rated aspects being that our facilitators are excellent at providing contextualised examples. Below is a selection of feedback from our spring term events:

“A great session. I highly value the facilitators' time and experience.”

“By far the most useful session we have had. Really good and informative!”

“A wonderful day of continued learning and development with lots of discussions throughout.”

“The two facilitators were excellent. They kept it relevant, realistic and enjoyable.”

We pride ourselves on our team of expert facilitators, many of whom are school-based practitioners, who are able to break down concepts and provide genuine examples for our delegates.

Partnership with Teach First

We work in partnership with Teach First to deliver the Early Career programme.

The Teach First Early Career programme has just been rated Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted, including their relationships with Delivery Partners. Teach First said:

"We work closely with delivery partners to ensure that ECTs receive a robust package of support at the start of their careers, which, through our partnership, reflects the local contexts they serve. Our delivery partners share our values and our focus on supporting pupils facing the greatest challenges to reach their potential.

The exceptionally close and collaborative partnerships we have was highlighted by Ofsted as a key factor in ensuring that every new teacher is supported to make a lasting impact."

Saffron Early Career Programme - summer term events

Dates and booking links for our summer term Early Career Programme events have just been released to ECTs, mentors and Induction Tutors and details are also included in our fortnightly update bulletin.

For the summer term events, we will again offer multiple venues and dates for ECTs and mentors to choose from in order to support colleagues to be able to attend.

Join our team of facilitators

We're currently recruiting facilitators for our 'Golden Thread' programmes.

Our facilitators deliver a hybrid model of in-person and online training to ECTs, mentors, teachers and leaders across our Hub region for our Early Career and NPQ programmes.

If you're interested in joining our team of facilitators, join us online for an informal information event on 24 March at 15:45. For more information about this event, and to register, see the flyer here

If you’d like to find out more about the benefits of being an Early Career facilitator, you can read a case study of one of our facilitators, Emily Sprules.
